Today's Class

Today the discussion group discussed the Chapter 4, and the 4 main developments of the American School System. The first of the developments was the printing press and how this changed the orally speaking culture to a printed culture. Next came the reformation and how it brought in schools. The American Revolution brought new freedoms and liberties to the population. Then came the Industrail Revolution, and with that came the idea that children should go to school to be educated. It is interesting to think about where schooling has come. Some things that presenters need to remember where that they encourage deeper thinking, need to speak up, stop using uhms/likes, consider how to group peers, how they used the SMARTBoard in their lesson, and be knowledgeable with redirecting students when they go down the wrong path with their ideas. We then discussed the iRLO project. The project needs to be interactive, and have user control with feedback on their progress. It also needs to reusable, that it can be used over and over again. This creation will be an object in Scratch. The resources that we got to use will be helpful for how to use Scrach because it looks very confusing to me right now! This looks like a really fun project once i understand how it is used!
